ACTNews,  TEGAL – Mbah Senen and Mbah Rumini are no longer young. They are an elderly couple from Banjarturi Village, Warureja District, Tegal. They are both forced to live in poverty in their old age.

The most concerning problem of Mbah Senen and Mbak Rumini is their house. Their previous house pillar had broken. It would be collapse at any time, especially during the rainy season.

"Our house nearly collapsed. We just had to squat down to enter the bathroom because the access was squeezed by a sloping house pole," Mbah Senen explained.

Mbah Senen and his family did not renovate their home due to financial constraints. It is because Mbah Rumini, who has hearing loss, relies solely on her income as a farm laborer. Mbah Senen suffers from visual impairment and is unable to work.

Through a house renovation program, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), in collaboration with LANAL Tegal and the Banjarturi Village Government, built a decent house for Mbah Senen's family on Thursday (3/23/2022).

"Hopefully, what we do sincerely becomes a charity," said Lt. Col. Ridwan Azis, Commander of LANAL Tegal Marine, through his staff, Major Kadrawi, who also appreciated the collaboration with ACT.

According to Siswartono, Branch Manager of ACT Tegal, the house renovation program was planned based on resident reports about Mbah Senen's condition. Previously, ACT had given Mbah Senen's family two mattresses and kitchen utensils.

"Mbah Senen used to sleep on a pile of used cloth," Siswartono explained.[]
