ACTNews, TANGERANG
CITY - Aksi Cepat Tanggap and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Tangerang
City held a Free Meal Operation where 600 meal packages were distributed to
flood victims in a number of areas in Tangerang.
MRI Tangerang
Coordinator Anggi Dwi Julianto said that ACT and MRI opened a Humanitarian Post
in West Sudimara Village, RT 01 / RW 07, Ciledug District, Tangerang City.
Through the humanitarian post, the distribution of meal packages can be done
quickly because the post is close to the disaster-affected location.
"ACT and MRI of Tangerang City held a Free Meal Operation and distributed meal packages to flood victims in several neighborhoods in Tangerang City namely Puri Kartika, Duren Villa Wisma Tajur, Pondok Bahar, as well as in Ciledug Indah 1 and 2. We hope that this food aid can help fulfill the victims’ need for food as they can’t resume their activities after the flood," said Anggi, Monday (2/22/2021) at the Humanitarian Command Post in Lembang, Ciledug.
Aurel, a resident
affected by the flood in RT 04, RW 01, Puri Indah 1, Pedurenan Urban Village,
Tangerang City, was grateful for the free meals from ACT and MRI Tangerang
City. She said that the meal packages meant so much for the flood victims
because they hadn’t been able to cook as their houses were covered in mud.
"Thank you for the food. May Allah reward you with goodness," said
the woman who works selling clothes.
Aurel did not have
time to evacuate her furniture. The flood quickly submerged her house. She only
managed to evacuate her children and salvaged some of her clothes to the
evacuation site.
"I didn't have
time to evacuate my furniture. I am not saddened that the flood submerged my
furniture because I am not the only one who was affected by this disaster. What
matters most is that my children and my family are safe,” she said with teary
eyes.
Many of the local residents were still traumatized by the flood that happened on Saturday (2/20/2021). The height of the flood reached two meters, submerging many of the houses. The flood also caused material losses. The flood submerged not only houses but also roads, hampering the residents’ activities. By Monday afternoon, the flood still inundated houses and roads. []
