ACTNews, SALATIGA
— Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) - Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Salatiga
continues their humanitarian mission by helping a teenager in Salatiga who
suffers from a bone tumor on her knee.
Schatzi Ananda
(18), a teenager from Sraten village, Tuntang District, Semarang Regency, has
been suffering from a bone tumor since one year ago. MRI - ACT Salatiga
volunteer Ardian explained that the tumor on her knee makes it difficult for
her to carry out her daily activities.
It began with a
pain in Schatzi’s right thigh. We took him to Gedangan Community Health Center.
She was given medications for gout, but the pain persisted,” said Schatzi's
mother Kurniawanti to Ardian.
Schatzi then underwent a medical check at a hospital laboratory in Solo. The doctor diagnosed that
Schatzi had a bone tumor.
She was advised to
undergo regular medical treatments at the hospital. Sadly, her family’s
financial condition doesn’t allow it. She now relies on traditional medications
with the hope that they can ease her pain.
Since her father
passed away five years ago, Schatzi has been living with her mother,
grandmother, and two younger siblings. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for
her family to make ends meet, let alone to pay for Schatzi’s treatment.
Ardian immediately
came to Schatzi’s aid along with other MRI – ACT volunteers. They have made
efforts to help her, including raising donations for her and contacting health
facilities for her.
"Alhamdulillah, we have raised some money for her and are currently providing medical assistance for her,” said Adrian.[]
