ACTNews, MAKASSAR — Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI)-Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) responded to a fire that destroyed 95 semi-permanent houses in Tamalate District, Makassar City, Thursday (8/12/2021). In less than an hour, MRI volunteers built an emergency post.

The emergency post was built at Jalan Muh Tahir no. 29, Jongaya, Makassar. Volunteers also conducted an assessment of the needs of the victims.

A severe fire occurred on Wednesday (8/11/2021) in the Lepping Complex, Tamalate, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, from 07.24 p.m to 10.30 p.m Central Indonesia Time. The cause of the fire was suspected to be a gas cylinder explosion.

The fire scorched 95 houses, and 15 houses were affected. The number of affected families is 123 families.[]
