MRI-ACT Volunteers on Standby at Flood-Hit Cianjur

Since Saturday (10/3) night, the MRI-ACT Sukabumi emergency response team has arrived at the flood-hit areas in Cianjur to work with the joint team.

ACTNews, CIANJUR - The heavy rain led to the overflowing of CIsokan River on Friday (10/2), flooding several villages in three districts of Cianjur. Hundreds had to flee to safety. The heavy rain also caused landslide that cut the access between the districts.

The team from Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia - Aksi Cepat Tanggap arrived on Saturday (10/3) morning to assist the flood victims. In Mekarsari village of Agrabinta District, nine rescue team members were dispatched to assist the flood victims in collaboration with other members of the joint rescue team. They will carry out Responding to this disaster, on Saturday (3/10) night, the Indonesian-ACT Sukabumi Volunteer Community team arrived at one of the disaster points, precisely in Mekarsari Village, Agrabinta District. A total of 9 personnel were dispatched to join other emergency response teams to evacuate the flood victims and clean the flood-hit areas.

ACT Sukabumi Branch Manager Mega Afdal Fathir said on Sunday (10/4) that, this morning. MRI-ACT Sukabumi Emergency Response Team had joined other team. This morning, the MRI-ACT team had coordinated with the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency. However, Mega has not been able to provide any more information, given the difficulty the cellular signal on the location.

"Based on the recent report from the team on duty that the cellular signal was difficult on the location. Hence, it’s also quite difficult to communicate with the team.  We hope that everything will be fine and the weather will be friendly,” hoped Mega.

The team reported that, in Sukamanah Village of Agrabinta District, one of the worst-hit location by the flood, 887 residents were affected by the flood. A total of 83 houses were flooded with varying heights. The affected residents had to evacuate without bringing many of their belongings. They are in dire need of assistance at the moment.
