ACTNews, SELAYAR ISLANDS REGENCY – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) has provided psychosocial support for children that are affected by the earthquake in December 2021. Sahrianto, a Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) volunteer of Selayar Regency said the earthquake still left children traumatized.

“It’s hard for them to forget that natural disaster. It takes a lot of effort to get it off their mind so that they don’t get anxious,” said Sahrianto, Friday (1/14/2022).

To reduce the anxiety of the children affected by the earthquake in the Selayar Islands Regency, the ACT Emergency Response team together with MRI volunteers of Selayar Regency played games with the children to ease their sadness. The activity took place on Wednesday (1/12/2022) and involved 25 children from Bonto Bonto Hamlet, Kalaotoa Village, Pasilambena District, Selayar Islands Regency.

“Happiness is medicine not only for the children but also for their parents who are also victims of the earthquake. Seeing their children happy, their parents must be happy too," he said.

In the same village, ACT and MRI volunteers also open a public kitchen that serves up to 100 servings of meals for earthquake victims every day. []
