MRI Semarang Regency Afforests Merbabu Slope for Springs Conservation

ACTNews, SEMARANG REGENCY — Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Semarang Regency carried out afforestation or tree planting around the Merabu Slop springs, Thekelan Hamlet, Batur Village, Getasan District, Semarang Regency, SUnday (10/31/2021).

Branch Manager of MRI Semarang Regency. Elvan Ardi explained that the action was carried out to reforest the spring areas in the Merbabu Slope. According to Elvan, the Batur Village residents have started to face difficulty accessing clean water. Tree planting is a long-term effort to protect the springs.

“A total of 300 tree seedlings were planted in two locations. The first is in the back valley, Pending Post, and in the Sumber Pending valley, between post 1 and post 2," said Elvan on Tuesday (2/11/2021).

The afforestation activity started at 7 am with a ceremony and continued with the distribution of tree planting areas. Various parties and communities attended the action including college students, SAR, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Semarang Regency.
