My dear Muhsineen brothers and sisters, Eid al-Adha is coming soon, and one of the most beloved practices by Allah is slaughtering qurbani animals. In the afterlife, our own sacrificial animals will come to Allah bringing millions of goodness. Each strand of the hair, even the horns, nails, all will testify to Allah for our piety. Allah revealed in surah Al Hajj verse 37:

“Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you.”

What comes to Allah is not the flesh nor the blood, but the most important thing is the piety that comes from us. You can share any meat at any time. You can give alms at any time. But what Allah accepts is our generosity. The generosity here refers to the qurbani performed by those who are able for the sake of Allah. Muslims are forbidden to fast on the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah. Do you know why? Because everyone wants to share food. This is generosity. The muhsineen who perform qurbani will make everyone happy. This happiness creates blessings throughout the world, Insha Allah.

My dear Muhsineen brothers and sisters, sharing on the Day of Sacrifice is not only limited to the rich. Our capability to perform qurbani depends on our willingness. For example, there are people who are not economically wealthy, but they want to perform qurbani. If they have the willingness to do it and set aside some of their wealth for it, then it is permissible for them to sacrifice.

Sharing qurbani meat in this age of globalization is also not limited to our localities. We may not be able to sacrifice the animals but ourselves, and we have to let other people do it for us. What is the ruling of it? It was reported that once The Messenger of Allāh slaughtered 63 camels by himself, while 37 camels were slaughtered by Ali bin Abi Talib RA. So, this means that it is allowed to let other people slaughter the qurbani animals for us.

Another question arises: is it allowed to use non-cash payment to buy qurbani animals while it was never done at the time of the Prophet Muhammad, like what is done by Global Qurban? The meat is distributed to our brothers and sisters who can hardly eat meat. There’s an immense blessing by distributing our qurbani animals there.

The answer is that it is allowed as long as the transactions involve no usury in them. Qurbani transactions are basically permitted and not prohibited as long as there is nothing that violates the rulings of Islam.

There are around 260 million Indonesians, and 238 million of them are Muslims. Out of the 238 million, let's say 1% of them are very wealthy people, which means that there will be 2.3 million people who are considered rich in Indonesia. If they all perform qurbani, they would have eradicated poverty. This is because the food and livestock industry and other industries related to qurbani all be involved.

Look at the massive impact of the Sharia revealed by Allah. Allah Knows Best. []
