ACTNews, BANGKA REGENCY – Most of
the preachers in Bangka do not receive adequate fees. “I don’t want to burden
the students. I don’t want them to stop studying just because they have no
money. Teaching the Qur’an is an act of worship. I believe that Allah will provide
me with sustenance," said Ustaz Muhammad when met by Aksi Cepat Tanggap
(ACT) Bangka, Wednesday (10/27/2021).
Another Muslim preacher, Ustazah Istiqomah, also teaches the Qur’an for
free. Ustaz Reno, on the other hand, uses the money from the donation box at
his mosque to pay for the electricity. “For food, I work on a farm,” said Ustaz
Reno
Taufiq Qurrahman from ACT Bangka explained that even though they receive little to no payment, they believe that what they are doing is for the sake
of Allah, and Allah will take care of their sustenance.
"They teach the Qur’an not for material gain, but for worshiping
Allah and preaching Islam," said Taufiq, Wednesday (10/27/2021). To help
the struggle of the preachers, Global Zakat-ACT provides sponsorship through
the National Movement for Indonesian Preachers’ Prosperity. []
