Nuril's Patience and Method in Teaching Children the Quran

The way of teaching the Quran from one child to another is different and according to their abilities. If the child is quick to grasp the lesson, then use the usual method, if the child is slow in accepting it, then using object analogies in everyday life, so that it is easy to remember.

ACTNews, BOJONEGORO — Making children love and be able to read the Quran is not easy. Need patience in guiding them because they are in a learning-by-play phase and a golden time that is easy to direct.

Nuril Rochmatin is a mother and also a teacher at Rumah Qur'an Bojonegoro Cinta Qur'an. For her, being a teacher who teaches children to read the Quran is an exceptional opportunity. Her experience as a mother helps a lot in her work in guiding children to read the Quran.

“It's not the kids who are disobedient but they are in the playing phase. As a Quran teacher, I had to find a smart way to teach them. I don't want to deprive them of their playing time, and they are also happy to learn how to read the Quran and eventually love the Quran,” said Nuril, Wednesday (5/26/2021).

Nuril continued that the most important thing in teaching children to read the Quran is patience. The children's comprehension is still developing, and it is natural that their ability to understand reading varies. “Don't get tired of guiding and be patient. Don't let children who are slow to understand, always get blamed or scolded,” explained this mother of four children.

The method used by Nuril in teaching the Quran is to make the learning atmosphere cheerful and full of joy. The way to teach one child to another is different and according to their abilities. If the child is quick to grasp the lesson, then use the usual method, if the child is slow in accepting it, then using object analogies in everyday life, so that it is easy to remember.

Nuril receives a salary of IDR 400 thousand per month. Nuril does not mind it, even though it is just barely enough. For her, teaching the Quran is a form of worship that cannot be counted with anything. She was even more grateful when Global Zakat-ACT handed over financial assistance to appreciate her dedication to teaching religious knowledge.

“No matter how much income that I received, I have to be grateful, Alhamdulillah. Thanks to Global Zakat-ACT for the financial assistance. Hopefully, the Friend of Indonesian Teacher program continues to give blessings to all of us,” she said.[]
