ACTNews, GAZA
– As the year ends, the Palestinians have to deal with the chilling winter.
With a humanitarian crisis that shackles them, going through winter will not be
easy. The temperature plummets to 10 degrees Celsius. When the night falls, it
can drop even lower to 0 degree Celsius.
Amid the blockade
in Gaza, many residents have no proper heating and shelter to protect them from
the freezing cold. Most of the population live in poverty, having no house but
simple huts made of cardboard and tarps.
Said Mukaffiy from
Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s Global Humanity Response explained that winter has
always posed difficulties to the Gazans. They have no supplies to deal with the
cold such as heating, blankets, and warm clothes.
"To warm themselves,
many Gazans only light bonfires. They don’t have enough warm clothes for everybody.
Sometimes they have to use the warm clothes in turns," added Said,
Wednesday (1/12/2021).
In addition, food
crisis only makes it tougher for them. They don’t have enough food to nourish
them through the winter. Due to unemployment, they can’t afford proper
nutritious food. []
