ACTNews, BEKASI – Ustaz Darih Karyana is a Quran teacher. Every day, he peddles his porridge in the Kayuringin Jaya area, Bekasi City, from 06.00 a.m till 01.00 p.m. During the Covid-19 pandemic, his sales are often unlod. The unsold porridge will be consumed for the family.
At noon, Ustaz Darih will rush home. Even though his sales have not been sold out, he will still go home and not continue selling. Ustaz Darih has to teach the children the Quran at his home. He doesn't want the students to have to wait long.
"I don't want them to wait long. At noon, I have to get ready to go back. Hence, I can go home quickly," said Ustaz Darih, Saturday (7/24/2021).
At his home, Ustaz Darih teaches 86 children the Koran. The teaching schedule is divided into three shifts: after zuhr, asr, and maghrib prayer. Apart from his house not being enough to accommodate all the children, the schedule is made so that the Quran activities run in an orderly manner.
“My house is small. It's not enough to teach 86 children at once. Hence, I divided it into three shifts: after zuhr, asr, and maghrib prayer for teenagers. Everything goes in order. The children don't have to wait long,” he said.
Ustaz Darih's greatest wish is to go on the Hajj. When expressing his wish, he joked with his wife that they want to go on the Hajj like in “Tukang Bubur Naik Haji (Porridge seller goes on the Hajj)” soap opera. He is still saving money to make his dream come true.
To support Ustaz Darih's struggle in teaching the Quran to children, Global Zakat-ACT provided financial assistance, Saturday (7/24/2021). For this assistance, Ustaz Darih expressed his gratitude.
