ACTNews, SUKABUMI REGENCY – Becoming a Quran teacher for people of Manonjaya Hamlet, Cijurey Village, Gegerbitung District, Sukabumi Regency is the life chosen by Ustaz Abdul Mujib. Every afternoon, after returning from the rice field, he is greeted by the boisterous voices of children who came to his house to learn the Quran.

Apart from children, there are also teenagers who come to learn the Quran with Ustaz Abdul. Furthermore, every weekend, Ustaz Abdul carries out a Quran assembly for the mothers. All of those activities are carried out by Ustaz Abdul sincerely without expecting anything in return nor payment. For Ustaz Abdul, teaching the Quran to children and mothers is his way to maintain Islamic knowledge.

“I am happy to see the children and mothers come to learn the Quran. We have to keep this habit of reciting the Quran which is slowly faded. If we are aware and have the knowledge, then we must teach the surrounding people and future generations. Believe me, Allah will ask for the accountability of the knowledge we have,” said Abdul Majid, Saturday (7/24/2021).

To meet his family’s needs, Ustaz Abdul manages his own rice field. His income is uncertain following the harvest period. Within a year, Ustaz Abdul can harvest his field twice. Every harvest time, it produces approximately one to one and a half tons of rice.

“I am a farmer. Alhamdulillah, the field is my own rice field. I use the results from this field to meet my family’s needs including food needs, electric bills, and my children’s tuition. The harvest depends on nature, so it is uncertain. I should not complain about the lack, Alhamdulillah, it is always enough," he said.

To help the preaching struggle of Ustaz Abdul, ACT delivered financial assistance. Through the Friends of Indonesian Preachers program, Global Zakat-ACT wants to strengthen the preaching spirit of preachers throughout the country, both in cities and remote areas.[]
