ACTNews, BEKASI – Aksi Cepat Tanggap and Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bekasi City distributed a ton of rice to Muslim preachers, Quran teachers, and mosque caretakers in Bekasi City. This aid distribution was an effort to assist Muslim preachers that still live in poverty, especially in the month of Ramadan amid the COVID-19 outbreak and Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) when food has been increasingly needed.
The handover was done at the Bekasi Islamic Center and was attended by ACT Bekasi Branch Manager Ishaq Maulana, members of MUI Bekasi, and Speaker of Bekasi Regional People's Representative Council Speaker Chairoman J. Putro, Friday (4/24).
"Today (4/24), ACT Bekasi is partnering with the Bekasi City MUI to bring the Humanity Rice Truck to send aid to support Muslim preachers, Quran teachers, and mosque caretakers that are financially affected by COVID-19," explained Ishaq.
He continued, preachers, clerics, Quran teachers, and mosque caretakers are among those most affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, especially after the PSBB was implemented in Bekasi.
"Usually, they are free to do activities in the mosques, teaching the Quran and religious sciences. At this time, they cannot do any activities in the mosque. The preachers can no longer preach in Islamic gatherings. Hopefully, this assistance from ACT can ease their burden. Insha Allah, ACT will continue to work together with the scholars and MUI of Bekasi City," continued Ishaq.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bekasi City MUI KH. Mi'ran Syafii said that hem on behalf of Muslim scholars in Bekasi, welcomed the aid given by ACT Bekasi. The assistance is very useful for the people in need, especially Muslim preachers, Islamic teachers, Quran teachers, and mosque caretakers. According to Mi'ran, COVID-19 outbreak affects the economy, social life, even security.
"This assistance will greatly help ease the burden of Muslim preachers, Quran teachers, and mosque caretakers in the city of Bekasi. We will deliver the aid to those who have not received any assistance. It will be distributed door-to-door by the MUI members in each sub-district, "said Mi'ran Syafii.
