ACTNews, GAZA - Aksi Cepat Tanggap’s Humanity Food Truck provides meal packages to the people of Gaza during the lockdown. This week, the truck distributed meal packages to western and northern Gaza.

Said Mukaffiy from the Aksi Cepat Tanggap’s Global Humanity Response reported that the Humanity Food Truck provided more than 300 meal packages for underprivileged families and orphans in Mashrou Amer, West Gaza and Ibad Al Rahmad, North Gaza. “The pandemic and lockdown made it difficult for the poor people in Gaza to get basic needs such as food,” said Said.

Each family received 4-5 meal packages for each family member. During the distribution of the nutritious meal packages, the team and volunteers wore personal protective equipment (PPE).

"The volunteers needed to perform humanitarian works amid increasing Covid-19 cases. It’s a risk they are willing to take. That’s why they wore hazmat suits," said Said.

Aid agencies are concerned that COVID-19 could destroy the densely populated Gaza. According to the World Food Program (WFP), even before the pandemic, more than two-thirds of Gazans were living in food insecurity due to years of Israeli blockade.

"Let us support the people of Gaza and the West Bank in the pandemic. We can provide the best support through the Indonesia Dermawan website or through BNI Syariah account number 6600003314 in the name of Aksi Cepat Tanggap," said Said. []
