ACTNews, BATAM – Global Qurban-ACT Riau Islands together with Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Batam distributed the mandate of generous Qurbani to Batam City and the surrounding islands. This distribution was carried out on Friday (7/23/2021), coinciding with the third Tashreeq day.

The distribution area of Qurbani meat in Batam City was in Kampung Tengah, Tiban Lama Village, Sekupang District, and the surrounding islands: Seraya Island, Semakau Island, Kepala Jeri Island, Bertam Island, and Setokok Island.

Agus, the Head of RT 007 in Kampung Tengah, expressed his gratitude to Global Qurban-ACT Team. “Hopefully, Global Qurban-ACT will always be victorious, and we can perform Qurbani again in the following year. The community is very enthusiastic because it had been almost 14 years that none performed Qurbani. This year, we received Qurbani cows, Alhamdulillah,” he added.

On Semakau Island, the last time the community held a Qurbani was 30 years ago. Global Qurban team also visited Bertam Island to distribute Qurbani meat. There are 49 families from the sea tribe who work as fishermen on this island.

"In the current difficult situation, beef is a luxury food for them," explained Khairul from ACT Riau Islands Program Team.

Khairul also thanked the benefactors for the Qurbani meat given in the Riau Islands. “The islanders are happy to receive Qurbani meat from Global Qurban-ACT. That smile proves that the Qurbani donors in this country care for the residents of remote islands," concluded Khairul. []
