ACTNews, COX’S BAZAR – In March, a fire broke out in Balukhali Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh, causing 15 fatalities and affecting 80 thousand other Rohingyas. The fire worsens the lives of the Rohingya refugees as they are struggling with their dire conditions in their asylum country.
ACT tried to alleviate their grief. From April 9 to 11, ACT distributed food packages to Rohingyas in Camp Balukhali. The humanitarian assistance came to Rohingyas from the alms of Indonesian benefactors through ACT. Food packages in the form of daily necessities were given to 200 families.
“The food assistance is part of Ramadan Food Alms Movement. This action of kindness without limits given to the Rohingyas from Indonesian benefactors through Aksi Cepat Tanggap” explained Firdaus Guritno from ACT’s Global Humanity Response team, Monday (4/12/2021).
Firdaus added, during Ramadan, it is planned that the distribution of humanitarian assistance to Rohingyas will continue. ACT will provide suhoor and iftar meals in Rohingya refugee camps.
“This Ramadan, apart from the Rohingya, humanitarian assistance will also be distributed to other communities affected by humanitarian conflicts and other crises,” added Firdaus.
