ACTNews, NORTH GAZA – The prolonged conflict in Palestine has stopped the economic growth. Access to food sources is now limited and poverty becomes prevalent among the majority of the Palestinians.
According to data gathered by the Global Humanity Response-ACT team, in 2021, 1.6 million Palestinians can’t provide nutritious food. Even in Gaza, almost 50% of the Gazans have a very low rate of essential minerals and vitamins.
In the month of Ramadan, the wishes to be able to have proper and nutritious iftar meals are within their prayers. Gratitude was expressed when big packages containing various kinds of staple food arrived in front of their houses on Sunday (04/18/2021) and Monday (04/19/2021). Almost 500 people who live in poverty in Beit Lahia, North Gaza received the blessings of Allah in the month of Ramadan through food aid and warm caring from their brothers and sisters in Indonesia.
Said Mukaffiy from the Global Humanity Response-ACT team said food aid will continuously reach the underprivileged people in Palestine for them to be able to focus on their worship without worrying whether they will be able to fulfill their daily needs or not.
“With the support from Indonesian benefactors, the food aid for Palestinians can successfully be distributed. The assistance becomes valuable for them because last year it was very difficult for the underprivileged Palestinian families to buy nutritious food,” said Said, Friday (04/23/2021).
Said said, meal packages were still continuously being distributed especially for suhoor and iftar of the Palestinians. The meals cooked by the Humanity Food Truck will be immediately distributed to the residents’ houses.
“ACT volunteers knocked the residents’ doors to distribute the delicious and nutritious meals. The residents welcomed the team warm-heartedly and even asked them to get into their small houses. Alhamdulillah, the blessings of Ramadan are not only about the food assistance for our brothers and sisters there, but also through strengthening the brotherhood of the Indonesian and Palestinian people in this holy month,” said Said.
