
ACTNews, CENTRAL JAVA – Several areas in Central Java were flooded after
heavy rains that hit on Monday (10/26). The flood-hit areas included Cilacap and
Kebumen. The flood also led to landslides in Kandangwangi Village, Wanadadi
District, Banjarnegara Regency.
"In
Banyumas area, the rain was quite heavy. Several areas in Banjarnegara were hit
by landslides. The flood has also hit Cilacap and Kebumen,” said Rama Fardiansyah,
Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Purwokerto Branch Manager, Monday (10/26).
Regional
Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) reported that the flood in Mujur Lor Village
in Cilacap reached the height of an adult’s knees up to 1 meter. In Kebumen
Regency, there are 13 villages were flooded. Several roads and a bridge were
submerged. Some areas were hit by landslides.
Responding to the floods and landslides, ACT Purwokerto deployed evacuation teams to the flood-hit locations. "We will first deploy a team to Kebumen, because, according to reports, the flooding in that location is quite severe. If the time is right, we will also head to Kroya District, Cilacap Regency,” explained Rama.

The team will
evacuate the locals and assess their emergency needs. In addition, the team
will also distribute emergency assistance. "Along with the team, we have
also sent basic food assistance for the flood victims. If there’s an urgent
need, we will also provide other kinds of assistance,” said Rama.
The Meteorology,
Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)’s Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in
Semarang have issued warnings about the rain that was predicted to hit the
mountains and the eastern part of Central Java.
"It is
generally cloudy in the morning, and light to moderate rain falls in the
afternoon and early evening. There’s a potential for heavy rain in the
mountains in the Centre of Central Java and parts of Eastern Central Java. Beware
of hydro-meteorological disasters such as floods and landslides," said
BMKG’s Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station in Semarang MS Fuad in his written
statement.
Light rain is
predicted to hit Pemalang, Brebes and Tegal. Light to moderate rain is
predicted to flush Cilacap, Kebumen, Purworejo, Klaten, Sukoharjo, Wonogiri,
Rembang, Jepara, Ungaran, Kendal, Batang, Slawi, Solo, Salatiga, Semarang,
Pekalongan, and Ambarawa. Moderate to heavy rain is predicted to hit
Purwokerto, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Mungkid, Boyolali,
Karanganyar, Sragen, Purwodadi, Blora, Pati, Kudus, Demak, Temanggung, Kajen,
Magelang, Bumiayu, and Majenang.
