Situation Update: Impacts of Israel’s Aggression on Palestine

It has been more than a week since the beginning of the Israeli aggression that killed 234 Palestinians. Most of the martyrs were children and women. The escalation of the attacks continues, resulting in damages and loss for the Palestinians.

ACTNews, GAZA – The attacks by Israeli forces on the Palestinians which have been going on for more than a week have caused 234 fatalities, as reported by ACT’s Global Humanity Response (GHR) based on data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health and Ministry of Information, Tuesday (5/18/2021) at 02.30 a.m Gaza Time.

Sadly, many of the fatalities were children. Of the 234 fatalities, 61 were children, and 36 were women. Meanwhile, 1,500 Gazans were wounded by the Israeli attacks. There were 212 martyrs from the Gaza strip, the other 21 were from the West Bank, and one of the martyrs was from the Palestine ‘48 region.

Apart from fatalities, 718 buildings suffered from minor to moderate damages while 244 others were destroyed. The attacks mostly happened throughout the Gaza strip, especially in Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, Rafah, and Alminaa in the West Gaza which is the green zone for international organizations. Israel has launched missiles to the civilians' residences, roads, infrastructures, and the economic development center. 

Said Mukaffiy from ACT’s Global Humanity Response explained that Aksi Cepat Tanggap continued to strive for helping the Gazans with humanitarian assistance. He continued, recently ACT Palestine has worked to provide housing for displaced Palestinians in an apartment in Deir Al-Balah. Around 20 families have occupied the apartment since Sunday (5/17/2021). 

“Besides that, the team continues to strive for providing food and medical aid to help the Gazans who are in difficult situations due to the Israeli attacks," said Mukaffiy.[]
