ACTNews, LUMAJANG
REGENCY – Riana (38) runs a small grocery shop to earn an extra income for
her family. Sadly, the shop that is located in Kamar Kajang Hamlet of Supit
Urang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, was indirectly affected by
the eruption of Mount Semeru. The volcanic eruption has decreased the locals’
purchasing power.
“I open this shop
to help my husband who works as a stone miner," added Riana when met on
Wednesday (12/1/2021).
This stall, which
is located on the road that connects Lumajang and Malang, knows no day off. Its
customers are not only the local residents but also people who are traveling from
Lumajang to Malang and vice versa.
After mining sites
were closed after the eruption, Riana’s shop becomes her family’s sole source
of income. Sadly, the eruption has also decreased the locals’ purchasing power.
Riana’s shop is now quiet.
“This shop is our
main source of livelihood. My husband can't work anymore because the mining
site is still closed. Alhamdulillah I can still eat every day," said
Riana.
Global Wakaf-ACT
Team provided Productive Business Waqf assistance for Riana in the form of a
new cart. It is hoped that this cart will support Riana's business.
"Hopefully this cart will be a blessing, it will make it easier to sell. Hopefully,
more people will buy from me. Thank you, Global Wakaf-ACT," said Riana. []
