ACTNews, KLATEN, CIMAHI – For 23 years, Prabowo Budi has been an honorary teacher at an elementary school in Pandes Village, Wedi District, Klaten Regency. The first salary he received from being an honorary teacher was IDR 50 thousand.

Even though Prabowo has now received seven times the salary, this amount is still far from the Klaten UMK (District Minimum Wage) in 2021 of IDR 2 million. Prabowo still has to owe to his neighbors to meet the needs of his family.

“We have to remain professional as teachers even though it is tough. The teacher is a noble profession because they make the young generation useful for the nation and religion through the knowledge given,” Prabowo said to ACT Klaten team. The team handed over financial assistance for teachers, Saturday (9/11/2021).

ACT also gave financial assistance to eight honorary teachers in Baitul Anshor Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Cibeureum Village, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City, Tuesday (9/7/2021). Hopefully, the assistance could help the teachers amid difficulties.

“Friend of Indonesian Teacher program is useful for teachers because it rewards and encourages all honorary teachers,” said the Principal of Baitul Anshor Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Rofi’i.

Friend of Indonesian Teacher is a program initiated by Global Zakat-ACT to help impoverished honorary teachers in Indonesia amid a Covid-19 pandemic.[]
