ACTNews, JAKARTA – The story of the oldest Qurbani worship on the earth is from the two sons of the Prophet Adam, Qabil and Habil. The story is mentioned in the Quran Surah Al-Maidah Verse 27 when Allah ordered the Qabil and Habil to sacrifice their best wealth which translated into;

“And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both made an offering [to Allah], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].” (Al-Maidah: 27)

According to Ustaz Faris BQ in the Webinar Peradaban Qurban on Thursday (6/10/2021), the sacrifice performed by the two sons of Prophet Adam makes the Qurbani special as one of the oldest events mentioned in the Quran.

“Was there any other event on earth before the story of Qabil and Habil? There was: the descent of Prophet Adam on earth, his meeting with Hawwa, the beginning of his family. However, all of those were not mentioned in the Quran. The oldest story told by the Quran is the story of sacrifice which makes it (Qurbani) special," said Ustaz Faris.

Ustaz Faris continued, Qabil had given fruits with poor quality while Habil had submitted the meat of the biggest sheep. Then the fire from the sky had only devoured Habil’s sheep as a sign that his sacrifice had been accepted.

“The lesson from this oldest sacrificial story is that humans are asked to always give for the sake of Allah. The sacrifice must also be the best of what they have so that it will provide the best benefits for other humans," he explained.[]
