Thousands of Tons of Rice for Palestine Have Been Packed

ACTNews, BLORA – Near the departure of the Humanitarian Ship for Palestine on Monday (21/2), thousands of tons of rice have been processed to be packed and transported to Terminal Petikemas Surabaya. Since Thursday (15/2), many volunteers in Blora had started weighing and packing the rice. Four days later, the packing process was finished on Sunday (18/2).

The whole packing process of the rice for the Humanitarian Ship for Palestine was centered in Community-based food barn (LPM) in Jipang village, Cepu Sub-district, Blora District, as stated by the LPM Coordinator, Harun Susanto.

“The harvested rice was then hulled, packed in sacks that are able to hold 25 kilograms each, and carried to the container storage. From here, the container trucks that can carry thousands of tons of rice will depart for Terminal Petikemas Surabaya,” explained Susanto.

In the process, the rice that has been packed was gathered not only in Blora, but also several other regions in East and Central Java, such as Bojonegoro, Sragen, Rembang and Ngawi. The gathering process was done right after the harvest season in several regions in Central Java.

Meanwhile, the packing and transporting process of the rice involved tens of Blora volunteers. Lamiran, the volunteer coordinator in LPM, stated that this number includes those who participated in the weighing, packing and transporting process.

“In fact, if we include those who participate in the harvest, the number reaches hundreds of them,” explained Lamiran.

Gradually, thousands of tons of rice is being transported to Terminal Petikemas Surabaya since Thursday (15/2) to Monday (19/2). Insha Allah, the Humanitarian Ship for Palestine will depart on Wednesday (21/2), shipping thousands of tons of Indonesia’s best quality rice for the people of Palestine. []
