ACTNews, JAKARTA – Qurbani is the most important on the Eid ul-Adha since it is the most loved worship by Allah. It is in accordance with the hadith narrated by Imam al-Tirmidhi no. 1413 and Ibn Majah no. 3117.
"Sayedatuna Aisha (RadiAllahuanhu) narrates that Prophet Muhammad said, “There is no dearer deed of Ibn Adam in the days of Qurbani than flowing the blood (doing Qurbani) and that animal will come with his horns, hairs, and hooves on the day of Qayamt. The blood of the Qurbani reaches the stage of acceptance before it reaches the floor.”" (Hadith Hasan, narrated by al-Tirmizi: 1413 and Ibn Majah: 3117)
According to the Deputy of General Secretary for Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Sholahudin Al-Aiyub in his sermon states that there are two Qurbani wisdoms; firstly, to emulate the Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail who patiently accepted the trials and tests that were inflicted on them, secondly to grow generosity and help each other (ta'awun) among the community.
The Prophet Ibrahim was tested by Allah with His order to sacrifice his beloved son. Prophet Ismail was also tested by Allah through his obedience towards his father. As stated in the Quran, Surah Ash-Shaffat verse no.102 which translated as:
“Then when the boy reached the age to work with him, Ibraham said, ‘O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I ˹must˺ sacrifice you. So tell me what you think.’ He replied, ‘O my dear father! Do as you are commanded. Allah willing, you will find me steadfast.’”
The second wisdom of Qurbani is to foster the attitude of mutual assistance between humans, especially Muslims. The current Covid-19 pandemic must be optimized as a momentum to share and help each other.
The spirit of Qurbani is the right momentum to foster the willingness to share and help those who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our generosity can also be our prayer to Allah to remove the Covid-19 pandemic on the earth.
