ACTNews, TASIKMALAYA - Sahabat Guru Indonesia Program is back, bringing a happy smile to honorary teachers in Tasikmalaya Regency, including teachers in MDT Al Hidayah, Sukamanah Hamlet, Gunungsari Village, Sukaratu District, Tasikmalaya Regency on Tuesday (9/22).

Global Zakat - ACT together with the Indonesian Volunteer Society (MRI) Tasikmalaya handed over financial assistance to 16 teachers in 5 Islamic schools. Through this program, Fauzi, ACT Tasikmalaya Program Coordinator, hoped that the teachers’ spirit would be uplifted to continue educating the Indonesian children in spite of the limitations caused by the pandemic.

"Alhamdulillah, we are still working our best to support the unsung heroes, the teachers, despite the limitations. Hopefully, Sahabat Guru Indonesia program can bolster their enthusiasm," said Fauzi.

Koko (68), one of the teachers at MDT Al Hidayah, said that he had devoted himself as a teacher at Madrasah Diniyah Assyirojiyah since 44 years ago. He did not receive much money from teaching, so he works as a farmer to earn additional income. "Alhamdulillah, I do this for the sake of Allah. I have taught for 44 years. I only hope that Allah will accept my dedication. Apart from teaching, I also work as a farmer after I finish teaching," said Koko.

Koko and 16 other fellow teachers received financial assistance through the Sahabat Guru Indonesia program. He is grateful and for all the generosity that has benefitted him. "Alhamdulillah, I can only thank Allah, and pray for the donors for the assistance that I have received,” added Koko, holding back his emotion.
