ACTNews, MAMUJU – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Mamuju volunteers delivered meal packages to flood victims in Kalukku District, Mamuju Regency, Friday (9/3/2021).
Heavy rain that fell the night before resulted in the overflowing of the river in Kalukku District. Several villages were submerged in water that reached up to one meter. Prior to the distribution of meal packages, ACT and MRI volunteers established a humanitarian post to facilitate further aid distribution.
“After we established humanitarian posts in Salukaha, Panao, Kasso, and Rantedango Hamlets in Sondoang Village, we immediately distributed the food aid. The flood survivors had not eaten the whole day because they have lost their food supplies to the flood,” said Ade Putra from ACT Mamuju Program Department.
Ade added that the aid distribution is still not optimal because the access to several villages has been cut off by the flood.
"In addition to food, the victims also need other emergency assistance such as clean water, medical services, blankets, and sleeping mats," said Ade.
Ade invited the community to participate in helping the victims. the generous donors’ assistance will greatly assist the survivors in the aftermath of the flood.
