ACTNews, SUKOHARJO
– You only live once, and time in
this world is short. Do more good.
Ustaz Mamad always remembers this piece of advice that he got from his
teacher. He has tried to live by his teacher’s words of wisdom by dedicating
himself to teaching Qur’an to the children in his neighborhood in Sanggrahan
Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency.
“I teach the Quran
in the mosque after dusk. I feel happy every time I see children recite the Quran.
To me, teaching is fun and not a burden,” said Ustaz Mamad when met by the Aksi
Cepat Tanggap Greater Solo team, Thursday (11/4/2021).
Ardiyan Sapto
Tamrin Nugroho from ACT Greater Solo said that although Ustaz Mamad himself is
not well off, he never hesitates to help his neighbors or relatives who are in
need. He believes that what he gives will benefit him eventually.
“Even though his
roof often leaks and his income is mediocre, he always wants to serve others
without expecting anything in return. He never even asks for help with his house
renovation. Instead, he often saves some money to help his neighbors,” said
Ardiyan.
To fulfill his
daily needs, Ustaz Mamad sells snacks that he consigns to food stalls. His
income is uncertain.
To support Ustaz
Mamad's struggle, Global Zakat-ACT provides assistance as a realization of
ACT's support for the National Movement for Indonesian Preachers’ Prosperity
which was initiated by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).[]
