Ustaz Muhlasin's Strong Conviction to Do Dawah

“The children's willingness to learn to recite the Quran is strong, but no one wanted to teach them. I sincerely want to continue my late brothers’ struggle," said Ustaz Muhlasin, a Quran teacher in Magelang.

ACTNews, MAGELANG – The struggle to preach Islam must go on. It must be carried out consistently despite the long arduous way. This is a belief that is strongly held by Ustaz Muhlasin. He continues the struggle of his late brother in teaching the children at a Quran School (TPA).

“My late brother established the Quran school. He was concerned about the village children’s religious education. The children's willingness to learn to recite the Quran is strong, but no one wanted to teach them. I sincerely want to continue my late brothers’ struggle,” said Ustaz Muhlasin when met by Global Wakaf – ACT Magelang in late October 2021.

He teaches at the Quran school in Pontong Hamlet, Soroyudan Village, Tegalrejo District, Magelang City without being paid. To make ends meet, Ustaz Muhlasin collects coconut sap, makes bricks, and raises goats.

“From after Fajr until 8 a.m., I tap coconut sap, then I make bricks until noon. After that, I cut some grass for my goats. I begin teaching usually after sunset until isha,” he said.

Global Zakat – ACT provided financial assistance for Ustaz Muhlasin as the realization of the National Movement for Indonesian Muslim Preachers’ Prosperity initiated by the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI). []
