Ustazah Weda's Persistence in Spreading Religious Knowledge

For Ustazah Weda (47), the most crucial thing that makes her happy right now is seeing the children's strong desire to recite the Quran.

ACTNews, CIREBON CITY – There are challenges to spreading Islamic teaching. However, it's all worth fighting for. The preachers fought incessantly in their respective neighborhoods. Ustazah Weda (47) did the same thing after dedicating herself to teaching children in Sunyaragi Village, Kesambi District, Cirebon City for 20 years.

Ustazah Weda stated that doing da'wah in the city was difficult for her. It is difficult to persuade children to recite the Quran. Even after approaching the parents, some still refuse to cooperate. Furthermore, children's addiction to playing gadgets and increasing promiscuity pose difficulties for educators like her.

However, Ustazah Weda never gives up on spreading religious knowledge. Her efforts have borne fruit to this day. At her house, approximately seventy children take turns learning the Quran. "Children can learn for free. Alhamdulillah, some parents are willing to pay. The fact that the children want to recite the Quran makes me happy," Ustazah Weda said on Thursday (2/3/2022).

Ustazah Weda had to be the breadwinner for her three children after his husband died in July 2021. "Allah has provided sustenance for everyone. I believe there must be a way," Ustazah Weda said.

Global Zakat-ACT provided financial assistance to fourteen preachers spread across Cirebon that day through the National Movement for Indonesian Preachers' Prosperity program, including Ustadzah Weda. Hopefully, it will aid in their efforts to teach Islamic knowledge. []
