Even though the current conditions are burdensome, Muliyati and Hamsina continue to sell cakes because they can fulfill their family's needs.

ACTNews, GOWA REGENCY – Trading during the pandemic is an obstacle for business owners, especially for those who have limited capital. It is what happened to Muliyati and Hamsina, two mothers in Borongloe Village, Bontomarannu District, Gowa Regency.

Both are now the breadwinners of their respective families. Muliyati's husband is serving his sentence in jail, while Hamsina's husband has passed away after she gave birth to her first child.

“These two mothers are now taking on the role of head of the family. To meet their daily needs, they sell cakes around the neighborhood and the nearest market in Borongloe Village," said Firman from the Global Wakaf-ACT South Sulawesi Program Team on Tuesday (11/9/2021).

However, as purchasing power declines during the current pandemic, they have difficulty trading. Therefore, Global Wakaf-ACT helped Muliyati and Hamsina through the Waqf for MSMEs program.

“We deliver capital assistance from the benefactors through this program as well as business mentoring for the beneficiaries. We hope that with this assistance, their business can continue and even grow,” said Firman.

Muliyati did not expect assistance for the two of them. “We were surprised and touched. There were people we did not know who suddenly came to our house asking about our sales. After talking about our condition, the team from Global Wakaf-ACT offered capital assistance for us, who are currently close to closing our shop because we do not have the capital,” said Muliyati.

To further expand the benefits of Waqf for the MSMEs program, Firman also invites philanthropists to collaborate in this program. “Global Wakaf-ACT also invites Generous Friends who want to participate in this kindness movement. People can channel their best donations through Indonesia Dermawan or Muamalat account 8010 1071 82 with transfer confirmation through WA at number 62821 9224 1414 or visiting the @act_sulsel Instagram page," said Firman.
