ACTNews, KAYSERI - The chilly temperature in Kayseri is too cold for Aisha (not her real name, a Uighur child in Kayseri, Turkey. Though the night was too cold, but Aisha’s heart warmed because on Friday (2/28), she would receive a gift.
Aisha rarely receives gifts, even on special occasions. That day, Aksi Cepat Tanggap volunteers gifted Aisha with a thick warm jacket in pink. "Thank you very much," said the six-year-old girl to the volunteers.
Not just a jacket, winter gifts for underprivileged Uighur families in Turkey also came in the form of fuel. In Kayseri, some families still need charcoal to fuel their room heaters.
Firdaus Guritno from Global Humanity Response (GHR) - ACT reported that there were 100 families who received charcoal for their room heaters. "At the end of September, ACT delivered fuel and jackets for 100 Uighur children who could not affor them," Firdaus said. The recent winter aid distribution took place on February 26-29.
Firdaus said, so far, the Uighurs who had emigrated to Turkey settled in Kayseri. Not all Uighur emigrants live a decent life in their host countries. "For this reason, we endeavor to provide regular winter assistance. There will be food, clothing, and fuel distribution, "said Firdaus. Previously, Quran copies were also given to hundreds of Uighur children who learn to memorize the Quran.
