ACTNews, BANGGAI
REGENCY – Fitri (35) continues running the school that her late husband established
in 2014. He was a prominent Islamic figure in Batui District of Banggai
Regency. The Al-Wahdah Islamic Integrated Elementary School is located in Uso
Village, Batui District.
"My late
husband started this school in 2014. We began only with 12 students," said
Fitri when met by the Global Zakat-ACT Luwuk Team on Thursday (1/13/2022).
Though she was
busy taking care of the school which currently has 147 students, she also
focuses on taking care of the children. Every day, she brings her youngest
child to work to make sure that her own child gets proper care and education.
“To me, teaching
has become a part of my life that is impossible for me to stop, especially if
you see the students being enthusiastic in learning and memorizing the
Qur'an," said Fitri.
Global Zakat-ACT
Luwuk visited Fitri's place to give her food packages through the Friends of
Indonesian Teachers program. Fitri was very grateful and hoped that this
program can expand its benefits to reach more honorary teachers. []
