ACTNews, GAZA – It was a quiet day when Aksi
Cepat Tanggap volunteers in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza, visited a beneficiary of the
zakat-ul-fitr distribution on Tuesday (5/19) afternoon. The team was met with
smiles and laughter of the beneficiaries.
"Thank you very much for the generosity
from Indonesia. Thank you, ACT. This Zakat-ul-Fitr really increases our
happiness in the Eid season,” Alia Soliman Aljobery told ACT volunteers in
Gaza. The Central Gazan woman lives in poverty under a tarpaulin tent.
Said Mukaffiy from ACT's Global Humanity
Response Team explained, zakat-ul-fitr reached 184 impoverished, disabled, and
elderly families in Deir Al Balah, Jabalia, and Gaza City last Tuesday. "Insha
Allah, in addition to zakat-ul-fitr, we are also assisting our brothers and
sisters in Palestine through various other programs, including meal packages
from the Humanity Food Truck, staple food packages, and family waqf
wells," added Said.
This week, the Humanity Food Truck provided
meal packages for 6,000 people in Jabalia, Bait Lahia, Bait Hanoun, and Om Al
Naser.
"The iftar packages through the
Humanity Food Truck reached impoverished families and orphans. In one week,
from May 15 to 22, this mobile kitchen served 6,490 Gazans," Said added.
