Zakat-ul-Fitr Delights Maluku Earthquake Evacuees in 2020

Global Zakat-ACT distributed 5 tons of zakat-ul-fitr rice to earthquake survivors in Maluku in Ramadan 2020. Global Zakat-ACT ensures that it will again spread happiness to the needy in Ramadan 2021.

ACTNews, AMBON - The magnitude of 6.5 earthquake that rocked Maluku in September 2019 had left 247,239 people displaced. Around a year later, many of the affected residents were still living in tents. At that time, in an effort to help evacuees in Maluku, Global Zakat-ACT distributed food aid, the fruit of zakat-ul-fitr entrusted by generous donors to Global Zakat-ACT.

Global Zakat-ACT Maluku Branch Manager Wahab Loilatu said, in Ramadan 1441 AH/2020 CE, Global Zakat-ACT distributed 5 tons of zakat-ul-fitr rice to earthquake survivors. "We made sure that the zakat entrusted by the donors was delivered to people who are entitled to receive zakat. In Maluku, the zakat was given to earthquake survivors, ”said Wahab, Tuesday (4/6/2021).

One of the beneficiaries, Lessy, was grateful for the zakat given by Global Zakat-ACT. She prayed for the welfare and health of the donors.

"The zakat that we have received is a gift entrusted by Allah through Global Zakat – ACT that means so much to us. This is because, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are limited in our activities, ”said Lessy.
