For seven years, Zaenudin (73), affectionately nicknamed Abah (Father) Udin has been teaching in a humble building that was formerly a goat pen. Since 1994, he has dedicated himself to teaching the Quran to local children.

As someone with a degree in the Arabic Language, Abah Udin was sad to see children in his neighborhood unable to read the Quran due to the lack of teachers and schools.

He quit his job as a manager at a cane sugar plantation in Cirebon to fully dedicate himself to teaching. Now he works as a gardener, earning IDR 50,000 for each work.
